Open Position | Youth Ministry Director
The United Methodist Church of Lake Orion, MI, is a 700-member church just north of Detroit, currently seeking a full-time Youth (and possibly Young Adult) Ministries Director, effective immediately. The Youth Ministries Director will provide structure and spiritual leadership to the ministry of students in grades 6-12.
Responsibilities include:
- Help lead and foster a vision for the youth ministry, recruit and train youth volunteers, work effectively with parents, develop programs and ministries for middle and high school youth including, but not limited to: Sunday school, bible studies, confirmation, mission trips, retreats and fellowship events.
- Work with the Christian Education Director to maintain proper communications and effective running of the youth ministry, as part of a comprehensive Christian education program.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be self-motivated, creative, easily approachable, have strong leadership and communication skills, and be passionate about sharing God's love with teenagers.
- Be outgoing, energetic, rational, and clearly show an enthusiasm for working with the youth and developing youth leadership skills.
- Have a bachelors degree
Requirements:
- 3-5+ years in youth ministry experience within the United Methodist Church is preferred.
- Extensive computer skills.
- Must have a personal relationship with God.
